Srinagar, Oct 13 (KNO): Fresh snowfall in the upper reaches of Gulmarg has delighted tourists and raised hopes for a strong winter tourism season, with stakeholders expecting a surge in visitors to the famous ski resort in north Kashmir's Baramulla district. The Affarwat slopes, home to the iconic Gulmarg Gondola, received fresh snowfall on Tuesday, draping the mountains in white and offering visitors an early glimpse of the region's winter charm. Tourists were seen enjoying the snowfall, taking photographs and soaking in the snow-covered landscape. "We are lucky to witness this," a group of tourists from Delhi told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). The snowfall has also boosted optimism among tourism stakeholders, who believe it could help build momentum for the upcoming winter season and encourage more travellers to choose Gulmarg as a holiday destination. "Snowfall is one of the biggest attractions for tourists visiting Gulmarg during winter. It creates excitement among visitors and raises expectations for the season ahead," said Shaista, a tourism stakeholder. Stakeholders expect a strong tourist influx in the coming months, benefiting hoteliers, transport operators, guides, pony owners, shopkeepers and others associated with the tourism sector. Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) Chief Executive Officer Alyas Ahmad Naisroo said all necessary arrangements are in place to welcome the anticipated winter rush. "We are fully prepared for the upcoming season and have made all essential arrangements to ensure a smooth and pleasant experience for tourists," he said, expressing confidence that Gulmarg would witness a strong turnout this winter—(KNO)
